Yesterday, the team of Toronto Maple Leafs disappointed their fans at home as they were beaten including over-time. Both sides showed an ineffective game in the first period. And the fans didn’t expect any surprises here but they are real. The next competitive game which we like to share is coming from NHL between Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes.
Both clubs will take a place in Amalie Arena at Tampa, USA. Carolina Hurricanes looked like they had really turned their season around as they had won seven of eight clashes, but since then it has not been so good as they have lost three of their last four encounters.
Tampa Bay Lightning continue to lead the league in points, but they had just lost a home game to the Senators, which was a bit of a shock and it was on the heels of a 2-1 shootout loss at Montreal, which was also a bit of a shock. Well, they were able to bounce back with a nice 5-2 road win over the Red Wings two days ago.
NHL Hockey action this evening and the New York Rangers will grapple with the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Rangers continued their stellar play on the road in their last game as they took out Florida by a score of 5-2, which was their 5th win in a row on the road, while the Canes come in off a bad 3-1 road loss to Colorado and they have now lost 10 of their last 12 games.
The Rangers are 9-3 their last 12 games here in Carolina, but the home team has won the last four games between these teams. The Rangers are now in a tie with the Penguins for 3rd place in the Metro Division and both teams are five points out of 2nd and seven points out of first. No matter what, both teams will be in the postseason this year. The Carolina Hurricanes continue to slide farther out of playoff contention as they have now lost 10 of their last 12 games after falling by a 3-1 score at Colorado on Tuesday evening. They are just a bad team right now and have fallen into a last-place tie with New Jersey in the Metro Division, with both teams being 11 points out of the 8th slot in the Eastern Conference playoff standings.
The Rangers have been the best road team in the league this year, but the Hurricanes have played far better at home than on the road. Still, this is not a game they can win as they have gone just 2-12 in their last 12 games overall, while the Rangers have won their last five games away from home and are fighting to move up in the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Cam Ward has played well at home this year, but he is just 12-20 in his career versus the Rangers, while Henrik Lundqvist is a strong 25-12 in his career versus the Canes. The Rangers have the clear edge in the crease and they also have the offensive edge and that should add up to their 6th road win in a row.
The NHL is back and we are very happy to see this. We cannot complain from the KHL but there is definitely bigger interest when the games are coming from NHL not KHL. The first game after the break is going to be between Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers.
Actually, this is going to be our tip as well. We believe that here we can possibly find a good market and price for Carolina Hurricanes which team is in a losing streak for the past 5 games. They are usually, playing incredible at home as they were in one home serie of 4 games without lost as they won even against Columbus Blue Jackets but they the team started playing weaker and they are now in this whole.
After all we believe that they had enough time to rest and think what is wrong currently with the team and from tonight they can start winning again. The Hurricanes are one solid and stable team and we really think they have everything to win against the Flyers who are not that strong recently.
We are in a bad losing serie in the NHL. We really do not know why there are such surprises recently, but we believe that after the bad period there will be sun on our street. We are continuing following the NHL anyway and our next pick will be for tonight.
The game which we liked is between the recent leaders in the conference - Columbus Blue Jackets and the team from Carolina Hurricanes. Here we are expecting no surprise this time as the team from Columbus must win this game as they are staked at around 2.00 odds to win in the regular time. There is no doubt that they are the better team and we would like to go for them.
But because we are having not that much belief in them, especially after the past few games we are going to make our pick more sure as we will make it to win after overtime. This should not be a risky bet but we are confident in winning it as it is high time, so we can stop the negative serie.
New Jersey are making great year so far. They started the season not so good, but in the past weeks, they started playing great hockey and now they have all the chances to do it into the playoffs of the NHL. The teams which have to be passed are Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins and both teams are strongly underachieving right now.
Now against New Jersey there is one tough team. They are guests on Carolina Hurricanes and it will be a derby game, because both teams are on the same positions in the Eastern Conference. We think that here we will not see many goals, as both teams will be playing defensively and will be very careful.
New Jersey in the last round lost by the favourites of winning the title here Washington Capitals as they lost by 1-0 after OT. It was a terrible defeat and New Jersey did not deserve to lose the game. Also 2 rounds ago they won against Pittsburgh Penguins away from home. We can say that at the moment New Jersey are playing awesome hockey and they are the better team here. If they are playing like they did in the past two games they will definitely take the win. Moreover, Carolina Hurricanes had a terrible game last night against New York Islanders, which they have lost by OT as well.
New Jersey Devils are in very poor form with just 1 win in the last 5 meetings and 2 back-to-back defeats. The Devils were smashed with 0-4 by the Lightings in their last home game and will be looking to make it up this time. New Jersey are averaging 2.2 goals per game and are scoring on 20.6 percent of their power plays.
Meanwhile, Carolina Hurricanes are in the exactly same position, with just 1 victory in the past 5 fixtures but with even worse losing streak, currently topping to 3 in a row. The Hurricanes are begging their road trip tonight when they visit Prudential Center after 2 disappointing home games. Carolina are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 16.8 percent of their power plays.
With two struggling teams, who are at the wrong end of the Metropolitan Division it’s tough to pick a clear winner, but we’re going to back up the visitors to win in overtime here as we expect a tight contest and there’s great value as well.
